Paula Gray tracked attendance and welcomed attendees as they were coming into the meeting held at Sterling House Assisted Living at the corner of Jones Maltsberger and Money Tree.

I.              Call to order - the meeting was called to order at approximately 7:10 PM by Paula Gray, President.  A total of eighteen residents attended.  Ms. Gray explains that the Bexar County Master Gardener did not commit.  The speaker (running a spot late) will be Ron Csehil from Gardening Volunteers of South Texas (GVST) accompanied by Dr Tom Harris.

II.            OLD BUSINESS- Ms. Gray opened the floor for any old business. No old business at this time.

III.           NEW BUSINESS- Ms. Gray opens floor for new business.

CURB NUMBERS: Robert Schoenert is called on to speak about a special contract that is available to NCHNA Association members who would like their house address number painted on their curb. It will be a free service to paid association members. Once membership database is complete, Mr. Schoenert will validate the database in order to get an accurate number to the contractor for this service.

SHREDDING: The Shredding held in Feb. 2010 was a moderate success. Perhaps if it is done again in a few months, we will have more participants. Three tubs the size of the city issued garbage cans were shredded for a total cost of $195.00

FINANCIAL REPORT - checking balance of  $5,877.00 in treasury.

COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE:  Ms. Gray has checked with Community Development Services in order to secure a “site license”, as each individual garage sales license costs $17. Discussion follows to whether the NCHNA Association pays for the licenses. Members vocalize that the individuals should pay for their own licenses.  Mr Palmer suggested that perhaps we can model our community garage sale like Thousand Oaks did and purchase community signs and advertisement in local papers. A motion is made and seconded to buy signs (similar to the ones used to advertise NCHNA meetings) not to exceed $100.  Mary Palmer stated she and an associate intend to move forward with their plans for a garage sale in the near term and others may participate if desired.

MISDIRECTED MAIL: Herb Loony speaks on behalf of Bill Spruce who is unable to attend meeting. The issue of misdirected mail is raised because of concern that important documents with tax implications have gone missing. Mr. Spruce went to the Henderson Pass office to bring to their attention that mail is being delivered to the wrong houses last summer and it is still happening. Mr. Spruce is willing to go back to the post office and speak on behalf of the NCHNA association, if authorized. A motion is made and seconded by members to have Mr. Spruce represent the Association when speaking with the post office.

FUTURE MEETINGS: Ms. Gray said that future NCHNA meetings will be held on a quarterly basis. The 3rd Thursday of Jan., April, July and October at 7:00pm at the Sterling House are when the future meetings will be held.  We gratefully appreciate the support of Sterling House and Mary Palmer.

IV.          MEETING ADJOURED by Ms. Gray. Everyone was thanked for attending and meeting adjourned in order to prepare for Guest Speaker, Ron Csehil, Bexar County Master Gardner.

V.             “What to Do With That Spring Fever” , presented by Ron Csehil
